S.E.R.C.

Today, everyone will begin to type your S.E.R.C. reports in Google Drive.  Your language arts teacher and I will be looking for perfect spelling and grammar in this report.

If there is extra time during class today, you may get your ipad and continue to work on your Book Creator project.

Book Creator App for S.E.R.C. Books

Today, you will start creating a book about your field trip to S.E.R.C.  You must include the following in your book:
  1. Everyone must create their book using the Square template (not portrait or landscape)
  2. Book Title (such as 4th Grade Goes to S.E.R.C.)
  3. Author's name (your name)
  4. Date of your trip (October 22, 2014)
  5. 2 favorite things about S.E.R.C. and the reason WHY these were your favorite things
  6. 3 facts that you learned at S.E.R.C.
  7. Search for a map of the Chesapeake Bay using Safari, save the image to your camera roll and include this map in your book.
  8. Search for one image related to one of the facts you learned at S.E.R.C.  (for example: secchi disk, blue crab, oyster, plankton, etc.)

Saving Your Book
Tap "My Books" in the upper left corner.  Then tap the inspector button (i) in order to change the Title of your book and to change the Author's name.

S.E.R.C. Information & Spelling Practice

First, everyone will complete the worksheet that I will pass out to you.  Hand write your responses in pencil.  During our next Technology class, we will use the iPads and everyone will create a book, using the Book Creator app, about their trip to S.E.R.C.  Your book must include all of the information on this worksheet as well as photos from the trip, a map of the Chesapeake Bay and a few other items we will discuss.

When you are finished with the worksheet, please hand it in and then practice this week's spelling pattern (short "u") by playing the spelling games below.

Test Prep - Wordly Wise - Lesson 2

Click on the link below and complete these six (6) activities to help you study for your Wordly Wise test tomorrow:
1. Cards: Read/listen to all 15 flashcards (the word and the definition)
2. Learn: Read the definition and then type the word that matches the definition.
3. Speller: Listen to the word spoken and then type that word in the box provided.
4. Test: Answer the questions (matching, multiple choice and true/false).  FIRST, YOU MUST CHOOSE THE TYPES OF QUESTIONS YOU WANT & THEN CLICK "CREATE A NEW TEST"
5. Scatter: Drag the word onto the corresponding definition to make it disappear.
6. Race: Delete the scrolling words by typing in their corresponding term and pressing ENTER.
